Big 2 RevolutioN     is a new card game project designed by Smoothie Games in 2015/16. It is a new gameplay experience for the popular Asian poker game, "Big 2".

“Big 2” reference, --- the popular Asian card game.

How to Play "Big 2":

The aim of Big Two is a race to get rid of your cards. It supports 2 to 4 players with one deck. You will be dealt 13 cards in each hand of the game, and you can play these cards in four different types of card combination:

  • As Singles (just one card)

  • As Pairs (two cards of matching values)

  • As Triplets or “Trips” (three cards of matching values)

  • As Poker Hands (five cards forming a straight, flush, full house, four of a kind or straight flush)

Note: you must play a fifth card with four of a kind to make a legitimate five card poker hand.

1)  The game consists of a number of hands, each consisting of a number of rounds. Each hand begins by dealing 13 cards to every player.

2)  The player who is dealt the 3 of Diamonds starts each hand, and must make a play of any type of cards combination involving this card to begin the first round.

Or

3)  Whichever type of play is led, the next player clockwise around the table must play a higher card (or combination of cards) of the same type.

4)  Players can choose to pass if they don’t want to play, and must pass if they cannot play. When all other players have passed, the last player to successfully make a play has possession and can begin a new round with whatever type of play the player wishes.

5)  The hand ends when someone successfully plays her/his last card.

Scoring by Deduction

A game usually consists of a number of hands (e.g. 10 hands),  before a final winner is announced. After every hand, each loser is deduced a number of scores corresponding to the number of cards she/he still have in hand. The scores deducted are to be accumulated continuously until the last hand. The player with the least scores deducted will be the final winner. The player with the most scores deducted will be the worst loser.

Note:

- If no-one has the 3 of Diamonds to start a new hand, the player with the next lowest card leads with that instead.

- If a player has 10 to 12 cards in hand after a hand is finished, her/his scores deduction will be doubled. If she/he has 13 cards in hand, she/he is deduced triple scores, i.e. 39 scores to be deducted.

Big 2 RevolutioN gameplay

In Big 2 Revolution (B2R), there are Revolution cards and they form an expansion of the normal Big 2 Poker Game. The 52 Revolution cards look similar to the corresponding Poker cards, but the “J”, “Q”, “K”, “A”, and “2” of the Revolution cards have special functions and are called Character cards. All the other 32 Revolution cards ranged from “3” to “10” do not have special functions and are called Civilian cards.

Set up of Big 2 Revolution.

  • The game requires 1 set of B2R cards and 1 set of normal Poker cards.

  • Shuffle the normal cards and B2R cards separately.

  • At a new hand, deal 13 normal cards to each player just like a normal Big 2 setup.

  • Place the deck of B2R cards face down on the table that is easily accessible to all players.

  • Prepare the Revolution Gathering by revealing 4 cards from the top of the Revolution deck.

  • Game starts.

Winning Condition:

A hand ends either:

  • when a player has played all normal cards from his hand, and he wins, OR,

  • when all cards in the Revolution deck have been revealed.

Rules:

  • Whenever you pass a turn, you may draw:

    • 1 revealed Character card from the Revolution Gathering, OR,

    • up to 2 cards altogether from the Revolution deck and/or from the Civilian cards of the Revolution Gathering.

(Whenever the Revolution Gathering is less than 4 cards, reveal a card from the deck.)

  • If you want to activate the functions of the Character cards, you must do in your own turn: discard the card and announce the function (iconized at the upper-right corner) before you play any other cards or declare a pass. (Please refer to the reference card for detailed functions desc.)

  • All Revolution cards may also be used as normal cards if a player wants. In this case the functions of the Character cards are neglected.

  • At any time during another player’s turn, you may play a Character card “Q” to counter the function of a Character card just played. Note a Character card “Q” cannot be played to counter the function of another Character card “Q”.

(Detailed Rules are coming soon.)
